The Ministry of Health of the Government of the State of Colima announced that, during the current summer vacation period, health checkpoints will be set up at entry points or areas to our state, such as airports and bus stations, to detect people with signs of measles.

The state agency’s Epidemiology Subdirectorate stated that these surveillance posts will identify people or patients at risk of transmitting a febrile exanthematous disease, who present fever or a visible rash such as measles, for screening purposes, particularly if they come from states where cases of this disease have been confirmed.

It explained that this surveillance will be supported by nursing and medical staff, who will review fever symptoms and, if they meet the operational definition of a case, will activate the corresponding health process.

In this regard, respecting their rights, these individuals with this rash-like fever, especially measles, will be isolated to prevent contagion among the Colima population.

A support network will also be available to continue the epidemiological study, taking samples for these conditions or for any communicable disease of epidemiological interest.

In the health sector, rapid response teams are being formed to control measles outbreaks. These teams will be operational at the first suspected or confirmed case of this disease. The vaccination will also be administered to people at risk: those aged 0 to 49 years and those without a complete vaccination schedule for measles and rubella.

Health sector institutions agreed to increase the vaccination rate for healthcare, cleaning, and administrative personnel working in emergency areas to 95%.
