Armed attack in Colima leaves 6 dead and 1 injured

An armed attack on a bakery in this city, located on Pino Suárez Avenue in the Placetas neighborhood, left six people dead and one injured, including workers and customers.

According to information from the State Coordination Board for the Construction of Peace and Security in Colima, the attack occurred around 6:00 a.m. when several armed individuals entered the “El Pichón” bakery and fired their weapons indiscriminately at the people inside.

After the attack, the alleged perpetrators fled, leaving several people lying on the ground. It was confirmed that six people died within minutes, and one injured person was taken for medical attention.

Several security forces were mobilized to the scene, including the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the armed forces, the Colima Center for Coordination, Control, Command, Communication, Computing, and Intelligence (C5i), and the Investigative Police of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

An operation was implemented that included office and field actions, and the deployment of various units, with the goal of finding those responsible for the events.

“The institutions serving on the State Coordination Board ask the public to participate by reporting to the 911 or 089 lines anonymously to inform authorities of any criminal act or act that may endanger the safety of any person. They also reiterate their commitment to the safety of Colima families and to bringing anyone who attacks them to justice,” the statement states.

Tras el ataque, los presuntos responsables huyeron dejando a varias personas tendidas donde se confirmó que seis personas perdieron la vida a los pocos minutos y una persona lesionada  fue trasladada para recibir atención médica.
