A strange scene surprised social media users in the early hours of Monday, May 19, when a video went viral showing lights emerging from the Colima Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the country.
The recording was published by the official Webcams de México account, known for monitoring various volcanoes and natural landscapes in Mexico in real time. The clip has begun to go viral due to the unusual nature of the phenomenon.
This is the moment the lights of the Colima Volcano appeared
According to the time stamp on the recording, the events occurred around 12:35 a.m., in the middle of the night. The video shows a completely dark sky and a still shot of the volcanic body. Suddenly, two intense white lights emerge from the bottom of the Colima Volcano, in the lower left corner of the frame.
The mysterious lights rise slowly, in a straight and constant trajectory, until they disappear into the sky. There are no explosions, no sounds, and no other signs of volcanic activity visible at the time.
The video, which lasts just a few seconds, has sparked all kinds of reactions on social media: from astonishment and concern to outlandish theories.
Although there is no official confirmation so far about what exactly was seen in the recording, some are already speculating that it could be related to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). However, it has also been suggested that it could be drones or aircraft at a great distance.
