A man from Veracruz who had remained [missing] since January 31 was found dead in the state of Colima, where his relatives traveled to confirm his identity. They are now carrying out the necessary procedures to transfer his remains to his place of origin.

The victim was José Arturo, a 27-year-old worker from Jáltipan, Veracruz. He lived in the Revolución neighborhood, on Deportiva Street, and his disappearance had kept his relatives on alert for several months.

According to information provided by authorities, José Arturo was last seen on January 31 in the Panamericana neighborhood, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City. Since then, his relatives had been unaware of his whereabouts and had begun searching for him.

Missing man from Veracruz found dead in Colima

The situation took a tragic turn after the Colima State Attorney General’s Office issued notice PFINR.075/2026 on August 6, requesting the public’s assistance in locating the relatives of a man who had been found dead at 1476 Parota Avenue, in the Punta Diamante neighborhood, in the municipality of Villa de Álvarez.

The body had been taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) as an initially unidentified person. However, authorities determined that he was a man from Veracruz based on the documents he was carrying, including a voter identification card. José Arturo’s relatives later became aware of the notice issued by Colima authorities and traveled there to verify the information.

It was his own family who confirmed the young man’s identity and established that he was the worker who had been missing since the end of January.

Authorities also reported that José Arturo was allegedly one of three people who lost their lives during an armed attack recorded on Parota Avenue, in the Punta Diamante neighborhood, in Villa de Álvarez, Colima.

Following the violent incident, authorities began the corresponding investigations to clarify the attack, identify those responsible, and determine the motive for the aggression. So far, the perpetrators of the shooting remain unknown.

One of the main issues authorities must clarify is how José Arturo traveled from Mexico City to the state of Colima, as well as the circumstances surrounding his transfer and the possible connection between his disappearance on January 31 and his subsequent discovery dead.

The young man’s family, including his mother María Estela, is now carrying out the necessary procedures to recover his remains and transfer them to Jáltipan, where his loved ones hope to lay him to rest.

Meanwhile, the Colima State Attorney General’s Office continues its investigative procedures to clarify the triple homicide in Villa de Álvarez and determine the identity and whereabouts of those responsible.
