The Governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaíno Silva, upon receiving the inaugural flight of the Mexico City (from Felipe Ángeles International Airport) to Manzanillo route operated by Viva Aerobús, emphasized that this is a fulfilled objective of her state administration; “we achieved it, and today we have this first flight thanks to our conviction.”

According to a press release, Indira Vizcaíno stressed that the next step is to promote the new Manzanillo-Mexico City route so that the people of Colima are aware of this alternative and can use it, allowing the project to grow as planned; “it will satisfy a significant portion of the demand that existed in our state and is a first step toward many more dreams we have in Colima,” the governor affirmed.

Jorge Padilla Castillo, Undersecretary of Tourism for the State of Colima, celebrated the realization of this goal, highlighting the excellent occupancy rate of the inaugural flight, with 163 passengers on board, representing nearly 90% of the aircraft’s capacity. He described this as an excellent omen for the launch of this route.

Walfred Castro Novelo, Director of Corporate Communications for Viva Aerobus, called the AIFA-Manzanillo inaugural flight historic for both the airline and Colima. He emphasized the significance of the moment and recalled that just a few months ago this route seemed distant, but now it has become a reality thanks to collaborative efforts. He added that the flight will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Mayreni Ortega Monroy, Director General of Tourism for the Manzanillo City Council, stated that this flight represents much more than a new air connection; it symbolizes confidence in the potential of the port city, its growth, and the enormous future the destination holds as one of the main logistics and tourism hubs “From the Sea to the Mountains.”
