With the aim of showcasing textiles, handicrafts, and gastronomy, approximately 80 Colima residents will participate in the national event “Colima en Los Pinos” on May 17 and 18, announced the state’s Undersecretary of Culture, Emilio Zizumbo Quintanilla.

In a press conference, the state official highlighted that the program will feature more than 20 events, including the presentation of Colima chocolate and coffee, as well as Colima hats, among other Colima products.

He stated that, for the fourth consecutive year, Colima will participate in this important national event. “A large contingent of artists and tradition bearers will bring to the nation’s capital a showcase of the artistic talent brewing in our land of Colima.”

He emphasized that this is an invaluable opportunity to continue enhancing the state’s cultural wealth, as part of the strategies that respond to the institution’s priority objectives: to rescue, safeguard, and disseminate the state’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Zizumbo stated that it represents an important opportunity for local artists, where they will be able to promote and preserve their projects, as well as their artistic proposals, to new national and international audiences.

“We are filled with joy and pride to share with you on this occasion that the presence of Colima’s art and culture will be much greater than on other occasions,” she stated.

She specified that of the 80 people who will travel from Colima to Mexico City as exhibitors, 80 percent are women cooks, artisans, producers, and artists.

Finally, she emphasized that for this edition, women from the state’s 10 municipalities, who are present in the country’s capital, were invited.
