After four days, personnel from the State Civil Protection Unit (UEPC) of the Government of the State of Colima managed to recover the body of a missing tourist on “El Paraíso” beach.
The man, approximately 30 years old, submerged himself in the sea water and was unable to return after several minutes.
The area was marked as dangerous and there were no lifeguards on duty, authorities said.
The body of the tourist, originally from the city of Guadalajara, was found floating in the sea, near a difficult-to-access area known as “El Arco de Manzanillo.”
An operation coordinated by the UEPC, the Municipal Civil Protection Unit, the Manzanillo Fire Department, and the Ensar (National Investigation Unit of the National Police) was deployed to recover the body.
The body will be handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Common Jurisdiction to determine the cause of death, as well as to identify and return it to his next of kin.
Colima State Civil Protection urges the general public to respect the recreational areas and beaches for the remainder of Easter Week, as they are properly monitored by lifeguards, and to follow their instructions.
