Following the release of videos that recorded two searches carried out on private properties in Colima by the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) opened an investigation file against members of said agency, since they are accused of having kidnapped eight people from their homes and having murdered six of them.

According to the newspaper La Prensa, the FGR recorded the events that occurred on October 1 and 2 in the investigation file FED/COL/0000708/2024, where members of the Navy are being investigated, among other things, for their responsibility in the crime of forced disappearance.

According to the aforementioned media, the file includes the two recordings that were released through social networks, where sailors are seen forcibly entering two homes located in the municipality of Villa de Álvarez.

The first, 34 seconds long, was recorded on October 1, 2024 at 11:16 a.m. The camera recorded the exact moment when Navy personnel entered the house while a man was lying on a bed.

Upon hearing the noise, the subject gets up and runs to another room, where a second male person enters. Shortly after, 8 security personnel enter, including military personnel and members of the state police, with firearms in hand.

The video is cut off when the uniformed officers begin to search the home and try to enter one of the rooms.

In the second recording, made on October 2, 2024 at 1:47 p.m., more than six marines are seen entering another home. Seconds later, one of the uniformed officers pulls the security camera, so it is unknown what their next movements were.

They accuse a setup

According to the first reports, the people who were allegedly taken from both homes are the six armed civilians who were reported dead by elements of the State Police and the Navy on the night of October 2, which indicates a possible setup.

According to the authorities, the agents were carrying out a security patrol in the vicinity of the Puerta de Ánzar community when they were attacked by a group of armed men, who were supposedly guarding a property where members of organized crime enter. The result was six dead.

However, according to the governor of Colima, Indira Vizcaíno Silva, the events have no relation to each other. In an interview with local media, the official denied that there is any evidence.

“I saw those videos. Everything seems to indicate that it is some search that is being carried out, but there is no evidence that links those searches with the matter that happened in Puerta de Ánzar; there is nothing that links them,” she said.

On the other hand, he described the publication of both recordings as risky, as he pointed out that their credibility is unknown and that, on the contrary, it seems to be an attempt to discredit the work of the Armed Forces (FFAA).

As of the time of this note, the Semar has not issued any statement on the matter.
