The violence in Colima does not stop, not even during Holy Week. Only on Thursday, the execution of at least nine people was recorded, in addition to a woman injured after an armed attack. Everything happened at different times in different spots within the state.
During the early hours of Thursday, April 14, around 1:00 in the morning, the mutilated head of a subject was found on López Mateos street, located near the Plaza de Toros de Tapeixtles, in the municipality of Manzanillo.
The human remains were left next to a drug message attributed to “La Barredora”, the armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel, who, with this green cardboard, warned the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and Los Chapulines not to invade their territory.
Throughout the morning, it was also announced that a man was executed with a firearm when he was walking on Porfirio Tejada street, in the vicinity of the Jala community garden, in the municipality of Coquimatlán.
The perpetrators traveled aboard a vehicle, which was paired with the victim, and shot him on several occasions until he was left dead in the place. Those responsible immediately fled the scene.
Some time later, another subject was executed on Guillermina Ahumada Street, on the corner with Leonardo Bravo avenue, in Colima’s Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez neighborhood.
Finally, a last confirmed attack occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, April 14th, when the murder of Paola Ruiz Ramírez, a teacher at the Colima Higher Institute of Normal Education (Isenco) and daughter of the late journalist Jorge Alberto Ruiz Chávez, took place while she was accompanied by two more people.
The small group was traveling in a car, around 2:00 p.m., on Zaragoza street in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, near the town’s garden, within the municipality of Villa de Álvarez.
Two bodies were left inside the brown Volkswagen Jetta, while the other victim was left lying in the garden.
These six crimes were added to the four registered last Wednesday, April 13. The first event was reported at night, on Sonora street in the Jardines del Sol neighborhood, located in the eastern part of the capital.
In that place, a 13-year-old girl and a 23-year-old boy were killed while riding a motorcycle. Local press reports indicated that the minor and the man were attacked by another moving vehicle. The tragic event happened very close to the intersection with República Avenue. The bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service and the Colima State Attorney General’s Office began the first investigations.
The second criminal act was recorded in the vicinity of the downtown area of Colima, where a man was gunned down. Reports indicated that the attack took place in the La España neighborhood, on Javier Mina street, where the man was allegedly shot in the head by gunmen on a motorcycle.
Finally, in the community of Jala, in the municipality of Coquimatlán, a 40-year-old individual was shot to death. The attack occurred on Porfirio Tejada street. The victim was surprised by a group of armed men and his body was left lying on the street.
